In 2015 Ron was awarded an MBE for services to the community. His life long work was recognised at Buckingham Palace by Price Charles in May 2015. We at Poltair are extremely proud of Rons achievement.

Ron is a Chartered Surveyor with over 30 years experience in the construction and property development industry having run his own businesses for more than 30 years.

Ron joined Poltair Homes in March 2012 as a result of disposing of his other business interests in 2011. Ron’s previous business specialised in the construction of high quality homes for sale along the coastal belt of North Devon.

Ron’s first venture when working for himself was to create a specialist affordable housing company that created over 400 homes made available for young people on a rent then buy ‘at cost’ scheme. It is this longstanding interest in delivering affordable housing along with sharing a vision for creating high quality private homes that fits well with Poltair philosophy.

Ron has also had an interest in voluntary organisations, believing that we all have a responsibility to give something back to society. Ron has served as a founding director of a Housing Association that acquired 3,500 homes from a Local Authority, is a past Chairman and Trustee of North Devon Hospice and remains as a Vice President and previously a town Councillor in his local town of Ilfracombe. He helped the town develop a 10 year strategic plan and is now leading a national pilot scheme on behalf of his town council being one of 10 pilots chosen and supported by the Government. There was strong competition from communities across the country and Ilfracombe had a imaginative vision of how agencies would work together in the future to better serve residents.
