Poltair Homes has successfully secured planning permission for 55 new homes in the stunning Cornish town of Padstow.
The carefully designed scheme will include 28 much needed Affordable Homes, which accounts for over half of the project, with the remaining houses being sold on the open market.
This significant provision of affordable housing is above planning policy requirements and means Poltair Homes has now helped deliver 112 new affordable homes for local families.
Both the affordable and open market homes have been designed according to Poltair Homes’ unique design philosophy.
Andy Ley, Poltair Homes’ Lead Brand Director, explains: “We at Poltair have a vision for well designed homes. We don’t adhere to standard house types. We approach everything from a design led perspective, so that our schemes not only fit the area visually but also serve a real purpose in integrating people into the community.
‘We take into account so many elements during our design and brainstorming sessions, from the amount of natural sunlight a room or garden will enjoy, to the prevailing wind and long-term maintenance considerations.
‘A key element for this design is a crescent of homes surrounding a green open space. All too often new homes are crammed into sites that feel claustrophobic. We have worked hard to offer families much needed living and private outdoor space as well as an attractive area in which to live.’
This is Poltair Homes’ fourth phase in Padstow, and each phase has been given its own identity.
Andy explains: ‘Phase 3 was inspired by the America’s classic New England coastal architecture and this new phase will have a more contemporary coastal feel, using warm-toned brick combined with cedar cladding. Both these materials are hard-wearing and will allow for a reduced maintenance exterior.’
Poltair Homes’ Chief Executive Ron Ley said: "More than ever in these difficult times, local people deserve decent homes. At Poltair, we recognise that an important part of our role as a housing provider is to create community and social value, not just build bland houses.
‘We are very proud of our achievement at Padstow, where we have enabled the delivery of so many affordable homes for local people’.
Poltair Homes would like to thank everyone involved in contributing to the success of the planning application, and look forward to providing some much needed new housing in Cornwall.
